The Rheintal (Rhine Valley) cycle path leads from Bregenz to Feldkirch along the shores of Lake Constance and the River Rhine’s embankment.

Description

This popular cycling classic is suitable for both leisure cyclists and the more ambitious. Many beautiful places to take a dip – some where it’s even possible to enjoy a barbecue – are dotted along the Alter Rhein and the shores of Lake Constance. This route acquaints visitors with the Rhine in all its facets – the Rhine floodplains and the Alte Rhein (Old Rhine) as a popular local area of recreation and a habitat with varied fauna and flora.

Public transport

Cyclists may then take the train from Feldkirch train station back to Bregenz. Cyclists planning to start in Feldkirch may take the train to Feldkirch and then cycle back to Bregenz.

Directions

The cycling route leads from Bregenz harbour along the shores of Lake Constance to Hard.It continues from Hard along the Rhine embankment to Lustenau. The cycle path then follows the Alte Rhein (Old Rhine) to Hohenems.It continues upstream along the Rhine and passes the large Erholungszentrum Rheinauen (Leisure Centre) in Hohenems, the Sportplatz Mäder (Sports Ground), the Zollamt Koblach (Customs Office) and the Zollhaus Meiningen (Customs House). Passing quarry lakes, the Waldbad Feldkirch (Swimming Baths) and the Waldcampingplatz (Camping Site), the cycle path leads directly into the town centre of Feldkirch.
