Mountain hiking trail that alternates with an steep alpine trail, very varied, leads through open pasture land and forest.
Large parking lot directly at Berggasthof Schuttannen
The Staufenspitze is located to the north of the Schuttannen parking lot (Location 38.26). A freight trail heads across an alpine area, the so-called ‘Gerstenböden’, towards Staufen. The trail forks in two directions near Emne (Location 38.25). That’s where the round hike across the Staufenspitze, which leads almost exclusively through wooded areas, starts. A mountain trail takes a north-westerly direction towards the Staufenspitze (Location 20.215) – sure-footedness is required here.Towards the east, the route switches from a forest path to a steep alpine trail to reach the Staufenspitze. This hike requires sure-footedness and a head for heights. A round hike in both directions is possible for the experienced. Less experienced hikers should choose the north-west route to ascend and descend the Staufen. The Staufenspitze presents magnificent views in all directions.
